THE MASTERTON CONTEST.
AN EMPHATIC DENIAL
ENTHUSIASM IN EKETAHUNA

EKETAHUNA, Monday
An enthusiatsic meeting of those anxious to see the return of, the Refrom Party candidate was held on Saturday night. Mr W. A. Boyes, who was in the chair, said he wished to give an emphatic denial to a rumour being industriously circulated that Mr Herbert's committee was withdrawing its allegiance to Mr Sykes. A number of Mr Herbert's committeemen who were present gave the umour the lie direct. It was decided to forward Mr Herbert a vote of thanks for the splendid fight put up by him on behalf of Reform, and for tho generous remarks made by him at Eketahuna and Masterton "after the declaration of the poll. Complete arrangements were made for conducting a vigorous campaign on behalf of Mr Sykes, who is now expected to score heavily in Eketahuna and surrounding districts.
