MASTERTON STOCK SALE.

The N.Z. Loan aud Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report at their sale at the Waipoua yards yesterday :— Sheep came forward In exoess of advertised numbers, the yards being filled to their utmost capacity. The yarding, taken as a whole, was fairly good, only a few lots of culled sorts in both ewes aud lambs offering. This class had a bad reoeption, aud the results were rather disappointing to vendors. All better _orts iv both ewes and lambs found a ready sale at sonnd prices. Generally speaking, busiuess under the hammer was dull, most lines being dealt with privately afterwards, aud at the close of the day a very small proportou were unsold. Best sound ewes lis to 12s, s.m. ewes lis to 12s, s.m. ewes fair condition 10s, ordinary 8s to 9s, culls os to ?s Gd, two-tooth wethers lis to 325, best woolly lambs 10s and 0s Od, medium (5s to Bs. culls 3s to ss, shorn 5s to 7s Od, good fat ewes 12s 4d. Pigs all sold ; slips 17s,' weaners 7s to os.

Messrs Dalgety aud Co., Ltd., report haviug held their usual fortnightly sale at their Waipoua yards, Mastertou. ou Wednesday, 25th January! when they offered a good yarding* well above advertised numbers, in both cattle aud sheep, which wo are pleased to report mot with a ready sale, and competition was keen throughout, vendors realising that the dry weather experienced lately was detrimental to good prices, aud were prepared to accept the offers at auction, therefore practically the whole yarding was cleared. Among our entry, which was of all classes of stieep, there was one line of twotooth ewes on account of Messrs Barton Bros., which realised 12s 4d. Other quotations are as follows: — Two and four-tooth wethers to 13s 4d, full-mouth owps 8s to 9s 4d, two-tooth ewes lis 2d to 12s 4d. four-tooth ewes (small) lis, shorn lambs 7s 3d, 7s Gd to 8s 3d, woolty lambs (small) 4s to 4s 7d, woolly lambs (fair rape sorts) 7s Gd, 7s lOd, Ss 3d to 9s. Cattle—Heifer calves 3U3 to 83s, steer calves 355, heifers in calf £3 10s, empty heifers £3 10s, fat cows £5 to £5 10_, yearling steers £2 15s Gd, eightjen-mouths steers £3 9s, empty neifers £3 7s Gd.
