VARIOUS OPINIONS
Yesterday being sale day aud also the height of the seasou for poisoning rabbits in the surrounding districts, it was exceedingly interesting to stroll from oue group of farm.rij to another, and to hear tha very varied opinions as to the best methods of exterminating the rabbit pest. Such discussion nturally leads one to believe that the pest at present is undoubtedly serious.
First, one hears that feed is too plentiful, then, the weather is too dry, for wheu a spit is turned over it is ""stale" iv twenty minutes ; again, it is stated that it is of no use lying poison ou the ground where the feed is green, Agaiust this we have the statement that great success has been obtained when the poison has been laid on the green patche?, every pellet haviug been taken, while it has been left untouched on the burnt up places. One settler stated that settlers must make their own poison, but this was quite overshadowed by statements made by many others to the effect that the poisou supplied by the Agricultural Departmeut was most satisfactory, aud had been for years. Verily there are many and divers opinions as to the best tiui9 and methods to be employed in poisoning Brer Rabbit.
