THE ACCESSION OATH.
VIEWS OF CARDINAL MORAN
Press Association—Electric Telegraph—Copyright.
Received Monday, 9.20 a.m. SYDNEY, Monday,
Cardinal Morau, discussing the coronation oath, intimated that Catholics' loyalty to the Throne was independent of any oath that the King might be obliged to take. The declaration was not only offensive to Catholics, but implied a far-reacfiing insult to the Sovereign. It assumed him to be a possible liar, as it made him declare that he had not received the Pope's dispensation.
