The cricket match Australia v. Manawatu was commenced this afternoon. Armstrong and Gorry were not playing. Bartisley won the toss, aud sent Mauawatu to the wickets. Ougley and Mitchell opened for tho local team, to the bowling of Whitty aud Emery, and at the third ball Mitchell was clean bowled by Whitty—o—l—o.

Treveua followed Ougley, Whitty finding his middle stump—4—2—l.

Goldspring followed, but soon after ho kuocked one ot Whitty's deliveries into the slips, aud Emery brought off a neat oue-hauded catch.

McLeau, the local captain, replaced Ongley, and scored off Whitty. Wlntty'H average up to this time had been three overs, three maidens, three wickets. Goldspriug was clean bowled by Emory—lß—4—2.

The next man, Mason, fell a victim to Whitty, being caught smartly in tho slips by Emery—lo—s—3.
