HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The ordinary meeting of tho Trustees of the Masterton Hospital was hold to-day. There were present:—Messrs J. B. Keith (presiding). W. Fisher, J. J. Mead, Murray J. Jackson, J. C. Ewingtou, and H. O'Leary. Apologies for abseuce were received from Messrs 0. C. Jackson aud J. Miller.

CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was dealt with as under: —

From A. H. Rotheuberg, resigning his position as hou. dental surgeon to the institution.—Resignation accepted with regret aud a vote of thauks accorded Mr Rotheuberg for past services. GENERAL.

The Treasurer's statement was as under :—Masterton Hospital: Receipts for the period, £5(5.2 (ss; expenditure, £24(5 5s 7d ; balance at date, £887 Kis. Infectious Diseases Hospital: Receipts, £137 (ss; expenditure, £81 7s Gd ; balance at date, £142 3s 3d. Accounts totalling £83 Gs 3d were passed for payment. The following is the Matron's report:—Patients in the Hospital at tho beginning of the mouth, 1(5; admitted duriug the mouth, 8; discharged, S) ; in at present, 15. Only oue tender was received for the reconstruction of the septic tauk at the Hospital, namely one of £132, from Mr Tait, which it was decided to accept, Mr Ewiugton voting against it on the. ground that they were going against the Department. A draft of the estimates for the coming year was submitted by the secretary"am! it was resolved that a copy be forwarded to the new Board. The secretary was instructed to have copies of the balance-sheet printed and distributed among the members. Mr Murray Jacksou said that as this was the last occasiou on which the old Board would meet, it was only fitting that they should pass a veto of thanks to their chairman, who at all times presided over the meetings in au exceedingly courteous manner, aud had dove all in his power to forward the business of the institutiou. The resolution was seconded by Mr Mead, and carried uuauimously, Mr Keith briefly respondiug. Mr Ewingtou stated they ought not to let the occasion pass without paying a tribute to the work of their secretary. Mr Boddiugtou had carried out his duties throughout in a thoroughly efficient manner. fie had been chairman of the Board for eighteen years, aud had siuce been secretary, aud during the whole psriod had done all in his power to help the institution. Mr Murray Jackson seconded tbe resolution, which was unanimously carried. Mr Boddington briefly thanked the members for their vote of appreciation. He had been connected with the institution for tweuty-nine years now, and looked upon it as a father did a child. Mr Keith alluded to the splendid services of Dr Archer Hosking, expressing his appreciation of his services since he had beeu connected with the institution.
