Taking advantage of the holidays, tho convicts iv Gaillon Prison, where desperate convicts are confined, seized the gaol aud forced tho warders, under a threat to wreck the prison, to servo them with soup, wiuo . and tobacco. Next day the troops, with fixed bayonets, compelled the convicts to surrender. Sixteen escaped to the woods, aud nine are still at liberty.
