WHERE HE WOULD FIND THE STRAP.
Believing with Solomon that to spare the rod is to spoil the child, an earnest parent keeps in a certain closet a leather strap, with which he administers punishment to his offspring when they commit auy misdemeanour. A few days ago he had occasion to need the strap, but it was found missing from its usual place, and a thorough search of the entire flat failed to discovor it. Then he offerod a reward of five cents to whosoever of his olive brauches could toll him what had become of the lost article. "Gimme the nickel," cried four-year-old Ben; "I know where it is." When the coin was safely stowed away iv his trousers pocket ho said,with piuch pride, "I trowed it down the Ventilator of the drain."
