A sad caso of drowning occurred at Atoa on Sunday afternoon, when tho fifteen mouths old child of Mr 'H. Hanson lost its life by falling into a pond in tho garden. Tho pond is used as a hatchery for trout,,and twico last snmuior another ot Mr Hanson's children fell into tho samo pond. An inquest was hold before Mr A. H. Herbert, J.P., acting coroner, wheu a vordict of accidental drowning was roturuod. A coufereuce of tho local Friomlly Societies is to bo hold in tho Forostors' Hall ou Thursday, sth iust., to decide on a course of action to be taken in roferouco to tho demauds of the Wellington division of the British Medical Association. Boisterous woathor has prevailed horo for the last few days, aud is keeuly felt, after tho summer-like weather experienced a few days ago.
