DISPLAY OF OIL PAINTINGS.
The finest collection of oil paintings aud water solours ever seen :in Masterton is now exhibited iv the Post Office Auction Mart, Mastertou, the work of Mr William G. Baker. The paintings are to be offered for private sale, aud to art connoisseurs this event should afford an exceptional opportunity of augmenting their private collections. A special gaslight display of the collection, which numbers 100 pictures, will bo given at the Post Office Auction Mart between 7.30 aud 9 o'clock each evening during this week, so that art collectors may be given every opportunity of forming an estimate of the merit of the collection. There are no fewer than 21 studies, representative of the Wellington, Wairarapa and Manawatu districts, faithfully and artistically depicted. The collection is well worth a visit.
