THREATS OF BOMBS
TWO WOMEN SENT TO PRISON

LONDON, Y r osterday. Mrs Leigh, aged twenty-six. who when arrested shouted, "It will be a bomb uext timo," aud Miss New, organiser of the suffragists, wore seuteucod yesterday at the Bow-street Court to two mouths' imprisonment without the option of a five for smashing windows iv Mr Asquitb's residence ou Tuesday. Both had beeu convicted previously. The Magistrate. Mr Robert H. Bul-lock-Marsham, iv seutoucing them, remarked that he would not make it a senteuco iv the second divisiou. Ho commouted duriug the hearing of the case ou the seriousuess of the bomb threat, this pniutiug to an offence which was pnuishabln by haugiug. Tho defendants replied that they did not auticipato auy necessity for going further thau they had dove. Miss New added- "I cauuot say what my future actious will be. Thoy will depeud upou the Government doing justice to women."
Mrs Leigh said -/'We have no course open to us but to rebel against the pressure of oue man. Ho must yield or pay the penalty. Wo realise our serious position, aud hope the Govorumeut will realise the serious positiou of affairs "
Mr Bullock-Marsham declared that womeu were likelier to attain their objects by gentle means thau by any other methods. If their attempt to terrify meu was unsuccessful, it would, besides, alienate the sympathy of a large number of meu who otherwise were believers iv the cause they were fighting for.
