WAIRARAP\ v. HAWKE'S BAY

NAPIER, Last Night.

The representative cricket match Wairarapa v. Hawke's Bay was commenced on the Recreation Ground, to-day. Hawke's Bay won the toss, and went in first on a good batting wicket. Mac:issey an I Hiudmarjli went in first aud put on 84 for the first wicket, when Hindmarsh scut one of Carroll's back to the bowler with his score at 4(i. Lusk, the captain, who followed, only made (> when Redmond caught him. C. H. Cato then joined Macassey, and runs confciuued to come freely until Macassey was run out with the score at 125, his total being 47. Cato and Fulton carried on the total to 145, then Cato placed oue into Hart's hands. Hawke, who followed, went out leg-before-wicket, after hitting 2. Feutou came next, but was stumped after notching a single. White filled the gap, and with 'Fultou brought the score to J S*3 when Fultou was bowled by Hoar. Bailey was next man, but lost White a few runs later. Ashcroffc succeeded White, and assisted Bailey to take the total to 205, when Bailey gave an easy chance to Morris, which was accepted. Dalgleish was the last man iv, aud he aud Asheroft continued to score freely until Asheroft hit oue to Ticehurst.'aud retired with 27 to his credit. Dalgleish being not out with 31. The total was 25(5.

Wairarapa then went to the vickets, but none of them made any stand against the bowling of Lusk aud Fultou, the last wicket falling with the score at 77, tue only double figure scorers being Es.son (not out, 15) and Gallon (18).
