THE TONGUE. The tongue is a reliable health-indi-cator, and its condition of great value in diagnosing disease. The physician will nearly always commence his examination with "Put out your tongue,." If the tongue is bright red' on edges and end, a stomach difficulty is indicated. A red "strawberry" tongue indicates scarlet fever. If simply red, measles or inflammation of stomach and bowels are shown, great prostration. A thick JBkting indicates severe disease. tongue indicates disease of the liver and stomach, fever and indigestion. A thick, , brown or black coating, with, cracks and fissures, is seen in typhoid and other low fevers.
