TE ORE ORE NOTES.

{Special to Daily Times.) <fllre heat here has been very oppressive the last two or three days. Old residents affirm that it is the hottest December iv their recollections. The crops are very dry and some are already in ear, but a green one or two might be seen on the banks of the Wangaehu or Ruamahanga rivers. Messrs Shaw and G. McKay have some very good crops of hay at Wangaeha. Last night two men on motor cycles ■were evidently having a race, considering the speed at which they were travelling, and as they did not sound their horns it is a wonder someone was not hurt.

On fine Sundays lately quite a number of young men came out from town to enjoy a day in the water. I noticed half a dozen parties at various points up aud down the Ruamahauga last Sunday.
