Sir Joseph Ward says it would be a grand thing to re-build the Parliamentary Buildings by a public subscription limited to a sovereign. Why did he not tell this to the Liberal-Labour Federation the other day? Doubtless it would be a grand thing and Unionists might find the money straight away. The New Zealand Times considers that this idea should be carried out as au example of patriotism. All we can say is that we are of the opinion that, but for the prevalent hot weather, the Premier would not have made such a suggestion, aud that when the temperature becomes normal he will come round to our point of view. When the unholy alliance between the city Unions and the Government is completed, aud the country districts are exploited by this combine to maintain aud augment city wages, country residents will have no sovereigns to give away. Their sovereigns will be taken from them.
