High Commissioner's Report
The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, 14th December :— The mutton market is dull, with less demand. Trade is very disappointing, there being only a hand to mouth demand. The following are the current quotations : —Canterbury, 3J- i; d; North Island, ?>%d, Australian, 2~,;(1, aud River Plate -id per lb. The lamb market is a shade weaker, owing to largo arrivals from Australia. Canterbury lamb is quoted at s :i jjd, aud other than Canterbury at The beef market is steady and demand Jias been chiefly for forequarters. Current quotations are— Hindquarters, 3^d; forequarters, -V4U.
