JUDGE COOPERS' STRONG IN0. DIOTMENT. In the course of his summing-up in the case of Pollock v. Beeson, in the Wellington Supreme Court, Mr Justice Cooper laid a strong indictment against a certain section of the community in this district. "Gentlemen, you have not had the same experience that I have," he said to the jury. '' but every session there are cases—either in divorce, civil or criminal—of interference with young girls, sometimes wifch, and sometimes without, the consent of the girl, by immoral men. There is a terrible state of immorality in the community, and particularly in this city. lam sometimes appalled by the amount of immorality shown in oar cities.
