The river steamer Lady Beatrice had a perilous experience in the Clarence River. She broko down near the Heads, aud was rapidly .carried towards the bar aud the North Spit. Twenty passengers, half of whom were women, huddled in the cabin, while heavy seas swept over the vessel. A tug went to her assistance, aud with difficulty got «i line aboard, and towed the Lady Beatrice, half full of water, to safety.
