Pirate's dam, Violetta (imp.), is by Echo (son of Rysdyk's Hambletonian), from Nita (by Sawyer's Hambletonian, from Betsy Austin (by Montreal, a Canadian pacer). Having been for several seasons standing at the Hobartville stud, and mated with the very best mares in Australia, including Kentucky Maid (dam of Ostlerie), it will bfe seen that Pieate's credentials are equfl to, if not better than, any sire in New Zealand. He is possessed of a good temper, sound constitution and is a sure foal getter. On the track, he has proved himself one of the best trotters ever foaled in the colonies, having won under saddle and in harness on all the leading trotting tracks of both Islands, meeting good fields each time. As a sire, KING GEORGE has shewn himself able to transmit his excellence to his progeny, as Marian, Miss Wilson and Peacock, his only representatives on the race track, are all good winners, while as carriage horses his stock command-high prices.
