Marylebone v. New Zealand

The First Test Match

The first test match between the Marylebone cricket team and a picked New Zealand eleven was commenced on Lancaster Park, Christehureh, yesterday afternoon. The weather was uupropitious, but there was a large attendance of spectators. The New Zealand captain, D. Reese, won the toss, and went in with Lawrence, Douglas and Branstou bowling. Reese was bowled by the fourth ball, without scoring. Haddon joined Lawrence. At 45, Torrens took the ball from Douglas, and at 50 May went on at the other end.
