Palmerston Sheep Fair.

At the Pahnerston North Annual Sheep Fair, on Thursday, there was a fairly good yarding, the total amounting to about 2'.i,U00 sheep, eonsi sting chiefly of breeding ewes. The New Zealand Loan and Mereautile Agency Co. had about 5000 entries, Dalgety ami Co. 7000. and Messrs Abraham and Williams about 17,000. The auctioneers conducted operations at their respective yards.

Abraham and Williams report:—At our annual sheep fair, yesterday, we yarded IT.oOO of all classes. One line of 1800 good Lincoln ewes, bred by Mr Pharazyn. did not come forward in time, and will lie offered next week. Another line of 800, bred by Mr J. E. Gear, of Te Horo. also failed to come forward. These we have for private sale. There was a large attendance, iiml competition in most cases was good, especially for any straight lines kof young ewes. The highest price for 4-tooth ewes was J Bs fid, and for ;2tooth ewes 17s (id. Aged ewes did not reach the prices in some cast's expected by vendors.
