CARTERTON NOTES.

Mr Keith S. Armstrong, of Carterton, has been offered, and accepted a position in a Palmerston North tailoring establishment, and leaves here at the end of the present month. Mr Armstrong has taken a lively interest in football matters in this town, and will be greatly missed in many ways. A painful accident befel Mr E. Wallis, of Carterton, on Tuesday. He was engaged at the moulding machine in his father's joinery works, when three fingers and a thumb of his left hand came in contact with the knife ■ and were severely cut. One of the wounds had to be stitched.

A meeting of the United Friendly Societies' Sports Committee was held on Tuesday evening, Bro. P. Molloy presiding. It was decided to obtain a permit from the New Zealand Atheletic Union to run uader their rules. Competitors in handicap, fire brigade, and military events are to be admitted free to the grounds on production of their nomination receipts.

The rainfall registered at Belvedere last week was 2 inches G8 points.

The fortnightly meeting of the Carterton Methodist Christian Endeavour Society was held on Tuesday evening, the Rev B. H. Ginger presiding over a large attendance. The subject for the evening was " Consecration," and an instructive evening was spent. During the summer evenings the Society intend to meet weekly instead of fortnightly as hitherto.
