Tho Melbourne bowling tournament commenced to-day on the Melbourne Cricket Club's green, which was rather heavy. Considerable interest was centred in the games for the single-handed championships, tiie first round of which was played. Out of twenty-two matches, the New Zealanders wore beaten in sixteen and wen in six. The second round will be played on Wednesday.
