There has been a goad deal said, of late, in the Press of the colony for and against Mr Tregear, who has pleaded guilty to the heinous ollence of being a Socialist. It is probable that the Government, his employers, have been well aware of his Socialistic proclivities, and selected him for
his present position as a persona grata to the Labour party. If anyone is to be attacked, it should be the Government- and not Mr Tregear. The policy of the Ministry has, in the past, been Socialistic, and, such being the case, it is not unreasonable that it should be administered by Socialists. The real question is not whether the people of this cobny have confidence in a very honorable public servant like Mr Tregear, but whether they have confidence in the
