PALMERSTON WINTER SHOW.

The arrangements for the Winter Show, Exhibition and Dairymen's Convention, next week, at Palmerston North, are summarised as follows:—On Tuesdaj', June 19th, at 10 am , the annual meeting of the National Dairy Association (Limited) will take place ; at 12 noon, the official opening of the Winter Show, by the Hon. T. Y. Duncan, will take place; at 7.30 p.m., the annual meeting of the New Zealand Factory Butter and Cheeseraakers , Association, and also a paper on home separation. On Wednesday, an address on " Moisture in Butter," at 10 a.m., by the Dairy Commissioner, and the fat stock exhibits will be on view; at 12 noon, an address on the cost of milk production as afi'eeted by land values and labour by Mr D. C. C. Gebbie; at 12 noon, also the opening of the Manawatu Poultry Association's Poultry Show. In the afternoon, in the show ring, pony jumping jumping competitions. In the evening the meeting of the N.Z. Institute of Dairy Secretaries; also addresses on "Potato Culture" by Professor T. W. Kirk, and "Feeding for Milk" by Professor Lowrie, Director of Lincoln Agricultural College. Thursday, June 21st, will be the country schools' day, pupils in charge of teachers being admitted free, provided, of course, prior notice has been furnished to the Association's Secretary. At 11 30 an address ou "Country Schools," by Mr M. Murphy, F.L.S., F.1U1.5.; at 12 noon the milk-testing competition for juniors, judged by Mr Kinseila. On Friday, June 22nd, the Shows will be open all day, finally closing at 10 p.m. Some idea of the extent of the Show may be guaged from the fact that in addition to tho huge display of working dairy machinery, 600 feet of frontage will be taken up with fruit, and farm root exhibits, 200 feet of frontage with dairy factory butter and cheese, and about 1000 feet frontage occupied with pafcry. Altogether the exhibition will be aIUFy fine one educationally, inasmuch as it is quite apart and on different lines to all other shows. The Association looks forward to a great increase in the public attendance.
