HOUSE WARMING AT MAURICEVILLE WEST.

(Special to Daily Times.)

Last Fridayevening, at the invitation of Mr J. E. Dead man, about forly settlers of the surrounding district met at his residence for a social evening, given in honour of the completion of his residence. The house, which consists of eleven rooms, is a credit to its owner, and also to the builder and designer, Mr W. Fisher, of Mauriceville East. W T ith its verandah extending round two sides, and its effective ornamental work and finishings, it gives the passer-by a welcome change from the ordinary style and sameness of the up-country house. The inside of the house, too, is finished in an artistic fashion, everything being in excellent taste and of the best workmanship. A most enjoyable evening was spent. Songs were given by Miss McCleash, Mesdames Jackson, Fisher, Rowel!, Ward, and Mr W. Jensen, also a most enjoyable reading by Mrs Jackson, while Mr S. Roigard gave a number of pleasing items with his phonograph. Dancing was also indulged in by old and young until an early hour of the morning. The host and hostess were heartily thanked for the very enjoyable evening provided.
