PERILS OF THE SEA.

The Catholic mission schooner Raphael has arrived at Sydney from German New Britain after a sensational voyage. She left on February 3rd. After being delayed for three weeks by calms, she ran into a succession of violent gales, ending in a cyclone. She then became leaky, the ballast shifted, and the vessel was thrown on her beam ends. Provisions were scarce, but, after she had been knocking about in a helpless condition for a considerable time, the crew succeeded in righting the ship. Then beriberi fever broke out, the captain and the majority of the crew being stricken down, "ft was with great difficulty that they managed the navigation of the vessel to Sydney. Between shortness of provisions and fever, the crew suffered severely. Several have been removed to the hospital.
