Masterton Stock Sale.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Masterton stock sale as follows :—Sheep were penned far in excess of advertised numbers, upwards of GOOO being yarded. We have to report the dullest sale of the season, bidding at auction lacking animation from start to finish, and although we quitted privately the bulk of the yarding, vendors had in most cases to accept prices considerably under their reserves. In cattle some useful sorts were penned, and we quitted the whole of the catalogue at prices slightly in advance of late rates. We quote:—Fat ewes, Ms to 14s 6d ; fat and forward ewes, 12s to 13s ; forward ewes, 10s Gel to 11s 6d; ewes in lamb, 13s, 12s, 11s, 10s 7d, 10s Od, 10s, 9s, down to 8s Gd : other ewes, 7s -id to Ss; culls, 2s 7d to -is; wethers, which were in poor demand, made, 2 and 4-tooth 15s Gd for best, others 14> to 14s 7d ; 2-tooth wethers, 13s 9d to 14s Id ; lambs, fat and forward 10s Cd, best woolly 9s 9d, others 7s Gd to 9s Gd, poorer sorts 3s to ss. Cattle: Fat cows, £3 10s to £4 7s G:l; bullocks in fair order, £4 Gs to £5; store cows, £2 10s to £3; 21-year steers, £3 Gs to £3 10s; weaners, ss. Pigs : Weaners, 7s.
