Mrs J. Preddy, of this tjvvn, who has been on a month's holiday in the South Island, has returned home, having enjoyed a pleasant trip The local State school re-opens on Monday next. The Dalefield Dairy Company _ was favoured by a visit from several prominent officials and others interested in the experi-
ment of the low temperature cure of cheese by means of refrigerating machinery. The visitors included Mr J. Ritchie, Secretary for Agriculture ; Mr Harkness, Secretary of the Dairy Association ;Mr D. Cuddie, Assistant Dairy Commissioner, Mr Singleton, Dairy Expert ; Mr F. Greville, editor of the Dairyman ;Mr J. B. McEwan, whose firm insralled the refrigerating plant; Mr Dickie, his assistant; and Mr J. T. M. Hornsby, member for the district. The visitors inspected the factory and examined the cheese being cured by the low temperature plan.
