Metal Markets
[Receircd To-day, at 5.50 a.m.) London, Last Night. Copper—On the spot, £77 os 4d ; three months, £70 15s.
Tin—On the spot, £159 17s 6d to £159 19s ; three months, £158. Pig-iron —53s 4d per ton. Silver—2s 5 il-lixl per oz. Lead—£l7 2s 6d.
[Tin shows an advance of £23 per ton compared with the rates ruling a twelvemonth ago. A cable message, to-day, states that the consumption of tin has outstripped the production. Stocks are in powerful hands and higher prices for tin are expected. With regard to lead, which shows an advance of nearly £5 per ton, as compared with the rates ruling a year ago, a cable message states that the Americans are buying heavily, which is likely to enhance prices. Supplies in Europe are not plentiful in view of the great activity of the trade, especially in the electrical branch.]
