London, Saturday. There was splendid weather when the New Zealanders played the match against Cheshire. The County team wore defeated by 34 points to nil. The spectators present numbered eight thousand. THE SCORE. The New Zealanders' total was made up as follows : — TRIES. • POINTS. H. Abbott (Taranaki) ... 2-6 J. Hunter (Taranaki) ... 2—6 H. D. Thomson (Wanganui)... 2—6 R. G. Deans (Canterbury) "... 2—6 F. Roberts (Wellington) ... 1-3 W. Nicholson (Auckland) ... I—3 GOALS FROM TRIES. G. Gillett (Canterbury) ... 2—4 Total 34 THE NAY. The New Zealanders quickly scored from a forward rush, Abbott securing two tries, and Hunter and Thomson one each, before half-time was called. Gillett converted Hunter's try. The first spell ended— New Zealand 14 Cheshire 0 In the second spell Deans scored a couple of tries, and Thomson, Hunter, Roberts and Nicholson one each, only one of which was converted, and the game ended— New Zealand 34 Cheshire >.. 0
