The Mayor of Masterton visited the waterworks this morning, and informs us that the dead animals seen and reported on by Mr Ayson are all in the upper intake. The water now coming into Masterton is from the lower intake exclusively,, and the Mayor states that it is perfectly pure and good This assurance on the part of the Mayor will, no doubt, tend to allay a well-grounded alarm ; but the public will hardly be satisfied without an official analysis of the water itself. The sooner this- is made the better.
