CARTERTON NOTES.
(Special to Daily Times.) The takings at the local Brass Band Bazaar for the three days, for sales, etc., was £105 13s lid; art union tickets sold, £36 ; value of goods on hand is estimated at £5, making a total altogether of £14G. The expenses are expected to be about £50, and the result will not fall far short of £100. This is very good considering the number of attractions that have been favouring us lately, but the Bandsmen expected to make • a profit of £200, Trout are reported to be plentiful in the streams at Gladstone. Last week a local angler there, in one day, landed ten fish, the total weight of which was thirty and a half pounds. J^ A valuable horse belonging to Mr R, Wadham, while being trained on the Taratahi racing track on Saturday, had one of its fetlocks cut. .Winners of the Ist, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Gthand Blh prizes in the local Brass Band art union were L. Johnston, Parkvale ; Miss Johnson, Oarterton; G. Corlett, Belvedere ;G. Whiteman, Gladstone; E. Smith, Carterton, and C. Fairbrother, Dalefleld.
