SLANDER.
( By Telegraph. — Press A ssoclatlon.) Timaru, Last Night,
At the District Court, to-day, J. Smart, stationmaster, at Orari, and his wife, were sued for £200 damages for slanders uttered by the latter regarding the wife of J. 11. Stocker, a storeman, of Orari. No defence was offered, and defendants did not put in an appearance. The jury found for plaintiif, giving damages at £100.
In a second slander case from Fairlie the jury found for defendant.
