INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION.

(lit/ Telegraph—Press Association).

Chbistchubch, Last Night,

Owing, it is stated, to the want of consideration shown by the Government to tho Executive and Building Committee of the New Zealand International Exhibition, on tho subject of tho appointment of architects, matters locally are in a critical position, and discontent and irritation are likely to assume definite shape shortly. When Government decided not to call for competitive designs, it was understood that the committees, 'which will bear most of tho responsibility in regard to buildings, and will have to work out all the details in regard to the exhibit?, would have a voice in the selection of the. architects from amongst the applicants. This "was not done, the applications having been sent to the Executive Commissioner, and tho appointments made from Wellington over the heads of tho Ohristchurch Executive and Building Committee.
