MR. FISHER'S CHARGES.

He Appears to Have " Fallen

(l>ll Telcyrupli—

WEr.u.xCTON, Last Night

During the debate on the Imprest Supply Bill in the House on Friday night, Mr F. M. 15. Fisher (Wellington) stated, in bringing certain charges against the Government, that he would be specific in one charge and prove in detail the allegation he was about to make. He stated that the sum of £75 -Is !)d had been paid to Captain Seddon for examining stores at Christchurch, this being in addition to his ordinary salary. Mr Fisher then gave the number of the departmental voucher for such payment, and the date of its receipt in connection with the matter.

The Premier now states that investigation has been made, with the result that the number of the voucher quoted by Mr Fisher is correct., and the amount of such payment is correct, and the date of payment correct, but the payment was made to Richard Sneddon, authorised agent for Messrs Anderson, Limited, the voucher being for stores supplied to the railway workshops at Addington. The payment was made by the Railway Department, through the Postal Department, at Christehureh.

The matter will come before the House

on Tuesday next
