MASTERTON GUN CLUB.

Annual Meeting.

The annual meeting of the Masterton Gun Club was held in the Club Hotel, last evening. There were present—Messrs M. C. O'Connell (chairman), T. 11. Thompson, E. Welch, T. Harvey, R. Murray, W. Wardell, J. Cochrane, C. Chalmers, and T. Duncan (secretary). The President (Mr E. M. D. Whatman), who was unable to be present, through illness, wrote, congratulating the Club on tho very satisfactory balance-sheet to be presented, and also making various suggestions in regard to the Big Match. The Secretary of the New Zealand Gun Clubs' Association .advised that the next annual meeting would be held- at Blenheim, on April sth next, and that it would be necessary to give notice as early as possible of any proposals to be made with reference to alteration of rules or other matters. The balance-sheet was presented, showing the financial position of the Club to be as follows :—Cr. balance brought forward, £30 os 8d ; receipts from all sources, £26G 7s 6d ; total, £296 13s 2d ; expenditure, £280 17s Id ; cr. balance, £15 16s Id ; assets, £36 16s Id. Reference was made by several speakers to the very favourable results of the year's working, the balance-sheet being, the best that had ever been presented. The prospects for the coming season were considered to be very encouraging. On the motion of Mr. Welch, seconded by Mr Wardell, the balance-sheet was adopted. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow":—President, Mr E. M. D. Whatman ; vice-Presidents, Messrs A. P. Whatman, E. Chambers and J. L. Fuller ; Committee, Messrs T. 11. Thompson, R. Murray. E. Welch, J. Cochrane, J. and T. H. Harvey, and J. Marsh ; auditor, Mr E. 11. Waddington ; handicapper, Mr M. C. O'Gonnell; delegate, Mr E. Chambers. It was decided to hold a £100 match on June 3rd, the conditions being made as follows :—■Number of birds to be twelve ; each competitor to be allowed two nominations ; two misses out; a " star "of £1 for first bird to be allowed ; boundary 40 yards. The first prize money was fixed at £00, second £20, third £15, fourth £5. Nomination 30s acceptance 30s.
