Brilliant Artillery Action.

(Received This Morning, at 12.2 a.m.) London , , Last Night. A battery of artillery on the Japanese extreme left, in attacking Mukden, fought ■with exceptional distinction. The guns galloped close up to the enemy, and though man after man was riddled with bullets, the service of the guns was not interrupted. Opportune reinforcements averted a disaster parrallel with that which marked the battle of Colenso in the Boer war. Colouel Ujida, commander of the battery, : and a brilliant artillery expert were killed, ■and twelve officers seriously and two slightly •wounded. Eight non-commissioned officers were wounded, and only a few men survived.
