THE MOKAU CASE.
An echo of the famous " Mokau case "
—which has been before the public for
some years —is reported from London. rThe will of the late Mr Wickham Flower, the chief opponent of Mr Jshua Jones in connection with, the estate, has been proved, and the gross value of the estate has been sworn at JGIOO. Mr Flower was always considered a very wealthy man, and his legal practice was a very large one. As head of the firm of Flower and Nussey, he took a Mr Followees into partnership when the trouble arose with Mr Jones. Mr Labouchere in 1898 exposed the Mokau case in his paper (Tnith), and the result was that the firm of Flower and Co. broke up, and that many beneficiaries who had trust moneys in Mr Flower's hands called it in on a moment's notice. Mr Flower's Br co-trustee, Sir Charles Hall, having died ' with practically no estate, Mr FJower had to pay for both, with the result that his fortune was swallowed up in making good the deficiencies.
