PAHIATUA NOTES.

In view of the approaching sports meeting of the Pahiatua Athletic Society, the Recreation Ground Committee of the Borough Council is having the cycling and running tracks put into order.
Mr and Mrs Murdock Taylor returned on Thursday afternoon from their honey moon trip
In the absence of the Vicar of St. Peter's Church (Rev. H. Leach) who is away for a holiday, the services on Sunday next will be conducted by the Rev. G. T. Workward, of Palmerston North.
Fine rain again set in on Friday afternoon, which will stop haymaking.
Mrs Youngwed.: "Whatever do you think ■? The great Miss Highflyer is only going to marry a poor clerk, after all." Mr Youngwed: " Poor clerk 1"
Tourist: "Why do you call that boy of yours flying machine?" Farmer: '• Because he's very interesting and promising, but he won't work."
