The Government state that the closing date ior receiving tenders for the million loan was the Sth, but after 1600 applications had been received and £2,500.000 applied for, the Agent General, after consultation with the Bank of England and his financial advisers, decided to close the applications on Monday last (Gth), two days before the time fixed. Had thn original date for closing been adhered to, the sum applied for might have reached four millions.
