MASTERTON TROTTING CLUB.
Meeting of Stewards.
A meeting of Stewards of the Masterton Trotting Club was held in the Club Hotel on Saturday evening. There were present—Messrs C. A. Pownall (chairman), H. Yates, H. Whittaker, D. McNair, W. lorn?. E. M. D. Whatman, A. Snodgrass, J. O'Neill, J. O'Mcara, T. Miller and J. Dixon.
The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the question of the dates appointed for the meeting-(October 20th) clashing with the Wellington Racing Club's meeting.
After some discussion, it was decided, on the motion of Mr A. Snodgrass, to adhere to the date already chosen.
It was decided to make arrangements for a string band to supply music at the iace meeting.
It was arranged that Mr F. H. "Wood sell the privileges.
The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr Ames in reference to running the totalisator.
A letter was received from a nominee at the last meeting, requesting that his nomination fee be returned.
It was explained to the meeting that the writer had entered bis horse while on the unpaid forfeit list, and had ignored all letters written to him requesting payment of the amounts owing.
The Stewards resented the attitude tal.cn by the writer of the letter, and Mr Pownall moved, and Mr Yates seconded, that he be fined JGS for having nominated the horse while on the unpaid forfeit list.
Mr Snodgrass thought the fine too heavy, and moved as an amendment that a fine of £2 be imposed. This was seconded by Mr O'Meara and carried. Two new members were elected.
