The barque, Gers, from Delagoa Bay, bound to Kaipara, struck the Manakau bar. The crew attempted to launch tho boats, but these were smashed. They remained aboard, and, tho tide rising, the vessel bumped over the bar and sailed up the harbour. She doeß not appear to have sustained any serious damage.

The schooner, Isabella Anderson, (owner and captain, Peter Liing, of Dunedin) loaded with timber, left Kaipara for Dunedin on Wednesday afternoon. Soon after sho was dismasted, and she tried to make Raglan, but was helpless in the heavy sea. She eventually wont ashore on Rangikahu beach and became a total wreck. Oae man, Murray, was slightly injured. The shipwrecked men received attention from the manager of Tekau station. The vessel was insured for £500 in the Union Office.
