CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent)
The friendly game of football on Saturday was a genuine mud scramble, in which the Carterton heavy forwards had the best of it, but the splendid back players of the Masterton team frustrated the strongest efforts to score, and the only points.registered.were from a kick at the goal from a penalty (three points). It was a good game to,watch, and spectators had their shilling's worth. The Catholic Church was formally rededicated yesterday, by the Very Eev. Father Lewis, who is His Grace the Archbishop's substitute during his absence. There were large congregations, many coming from Greytown to assist in the services, which were most impressive.
It is stated in several quarters here that Mr W. Barton, of Featberston, will be a candidate at the next general election.
