(Received To-day, at 8.53 a.m) London, Last Night. Obituary —Sir Edwin Arnold ; aged seventy-two.

[Sir Edwin Arnold, K.C.1.E., C.5.1., was a Fellow of Bombay University, and of the Royal Asiatic Society, officer of White Elephant of Siam, also Grand Commander of Crown of Siam, Rising Sun of Japan, Commander of Lion and bun of Persia, author and journalist. His third wife, whom he married in 1897, was Tama Kurokawa, Sendai, Japan. He was formerly Master of King Edward's School, Birmingham, and for some years Principal of Government Deccan College, Poona, Bombay. Since 1861 he has been constantly connected with editorial and literary duties on the staff of the London Daily Telegraph. Among his works published were "Light of Asia," " Light of the World," ■« The Voyage of Ithobal," and many other works in verse and prose.]
