PAHIATUA NOTES.

(From Our Ovm Correspondent.)

A large number of townspeople journeyed to Woodville, on Wednesday, to the Show. Mr J. King, of King Bros., won the first prize in the horse-shoeing competition. A meeting called on Wednesday evening, of those interested in the formation of an Athletic Club, was well attended, Mr J. D. Wilson occupied the chair. After some discussion in reference to the defunct or rather bankrupt Caledonian Society, it was unanimousiy carried that a Club be formed to be called " The Pahiatua Athletic Club," and that the subscription be 5s per annum. Officers were elected, and it was decided to hold sports on March 23rd. The Pahiatua Mounted Corps go into camp to-day. The Corps invite the public to afternoon tea on Sunday aext. Light rain is falling. If it continues it will do an immense amount of good; it is very badly needed.
