This senior championship match was commenced at Carterton on Saturday last, and, at the conclusion of the day's play, the Carterton team had a decided advantage. Going in first, the Carterton team put together 131 runs, Smart (28) and Hansen (26), being the chief contributors. The visitors, in their first innings, were dismissed for tho small total cf 26 runs, Christie being the highest scorer with 9 (not out).
