TAUERU NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent).
Anniversary Day was celebrated here by holding the State School Picnic, followed by a Social Gathering in the evening in the Public Hall. Mr Garratt's paddock made an ideal picnic ground, close to the river, and provided with plenty of shelter. The day, although overcast was fairly cool, adding much to the pleasure of those present. The arrangements made by the School Com mittee were complete, allowing tbe various functions of the day to be carried out without delay or a bitch of any kind. The programme consisted of sports and games for scholars and adults, into which all heartily entered, causing keen rivalry in the various events, which were closely contested. After tea and games a move was made to the Hall, where dancing was indulged in till a late hour. The School Committee, assisted by willing workers, deserve all praise for helping to make the day a very pleasant one to all who were present. Our Postmaster, Mr A. Taplin, is slowly recovering from a serious illness. His official duties, in the meantime, are being performed by a member of the Masterton staff.
