Mr George Marshall, the Duke of Newcastle's agent, who is in the habit of bringing large sums of money to London, left his locked bedroom at the Hotel Metropole for five minutes while he had a shave. On returning, he found ten thousand pounds in notes and four or five hundred pounds in coin stolen.
