FOOTBALL.

The Maorilanders in Australia.

Another Victory.

(Received To-day, at 12.10 a.m.)

Brisbane, This Day. The attendance at the return match, Queensland v. New Zealand, was over 12,000. The visitors secured an easy win. The home combination were never actually dangerous, and operations were confined to their territory practically the whole game. The New Zealand forwards played magnificently, and exhibited by far the best form of the tour.

Queensland, winning the toss, decided to play with the sun behind their backs. R. McGregor made a great run through the Queensland backs, but hanging on to the ball too long marred a possible score. Wood marked in good position, but Wallace failed with his kick at goal. Wood placed Queensland in a dangerous position, and then Kiernan, Wood and Asher were prominent in a passing rush, the latter being grassed a few inches from the chalk line. Queensland eventually cleared their line. From a scrum Kiernan whipped the leather out to McGregor, who handed it on to Stalker, and the Otago man running strongly beat the local fullback and scored near the corner flag. Wallace failed to convert.

New Zealand 3, Queensland 0.

Kiernan, from a loose rush, passed to Wood, the latter giving the ball to Stead, who cleverly beat the Queensland threequarters, and then transferred to Long, who soorecl. Wallace converted.

New Zealand, 8; Queensland, 0. Even play followed for a time, until magnificent passing between the New Zealand backs and forwards in unison saw Queensland once more in trouble. The New Zealand backs now livened up, and frequently their passing was a treat to witness, Stalker, Wood and Kiernan being the most prominent. Redwood saved Queensland, and moved play out of their quarter. This was followed by the best bit of passing in the game, all the visiting forwards and backs taking part in it. The result was that Spencer got over behind the posts, but Wallace failed to improve the score.

jNow Zealand, 11; Queensland, 0.

Shortly after the start of the second half, Wood, getting possession, potted a pretty goal.

New Zealand, 15 ; Queensland, 0,

The New Zealand backs then made desperate efforts to increase the score. Stalker, on one occasion, was pulled down a few inches from the line. Ultimately Asher scored behind the posts. Wallace converted.
